Blue, Blue, Blue!

One of my good friends, L. had a baby boy (who is ADORABLE, by the way) and she was crazy enough to let another friend and me know the gender of her baby before her to throw her a gender reveal party!  She is a stronger woman than me!  I for SURE couldn't wait to find out, but I'm so glad she did because this party was SO fun!  This is from quite awhile ago, but I thought the pictures were worth sharing!

 

The theme was "What Will It Bee?" with fun bees, honeycomb, etc. everywhere.  The genius behind the party was B. (Ha...I know...what will it bee, B.?) and she found this fun printable party decorations on Etsy, so it was easy peasy for us to have it look great!

The cake and cake balls were blue inside so we had to make sure nobody ate them before we opened "the box"

Excuses, Excuses....

Well, hello there...

I've been absent from the blogging world for several months, but THIS time I have a great excuse.  The best excuse actually.  I'll let my little boy do the explaining.

 

Yep, that's right.  Baby #2 is on the way.  So if you have ever had terrible morning sickness WHILE taking care of a toddler, you will know why the blogging fell by the wayside. 

 

I will have some fun updates posted in the next few weeks!

Milk Paint

Sometimes I have to be VERY creative to keep the attention of my 2-yr-old.

This is definitely not my original idea, but I didn't have a particular "recipe" that I followed, so we kind of put our own twist on it.

All you need is a little bit of milk, some food coloring and some cheap foam brushes (Michael's has them on sale this week for 25 for ONE dollar!...Yes, we stocked up).  

You also need your canvas of choice.  Today, ours was marshmallows.  I've seen people do it with bread (and then toast it!) or popcorn even.  Then you just let them create!

Little Man's Car Caddy

I made this a couple of months ago, but am just now getting around to taking pictures of it!

Partially, because it has been played with NONSTOP since I finished it!  He was already asking for "more roads" as I finished the first one and handed it to him.

L. likes to take his cars everywhere, and they kept getting lost (in the car, in his backpack, etc. etc.)

So I made a home for them.  It folds up nicely and keeps the cars snug inside.

It even has a nifty little pocket on the back to keep the felt roads in.

Endless hours of fun creating roadways.

Oh, you want to drive up the back of the couch?  No problem, felt sticks to almost anything!

I {heart} Breakfast

Sometimes I'm awesome at making fun food for my toddler.  Emphasis on the SOME in sometimes.

This is a quick and easy breakfast idea that you can do with any shape cookie cutter and simple ingredients!  Throw it together with some fresh fruit and you've got a delicious (and healthy!) meal.

Simply cut out (I use a cookie cutter) a shape out of a piece of bread and spray a small frying pan with some cooking spray.  On medium heat, let the pan heat up and then put the bread in the pan and crack an egg into the shape you cut out.  Sometimes I add a little cheese, salt & pepper to the egg too.  The possibilities are endless.

Cook until the egg is really done on that side and you can flip it over easily without the egg going everywhere.  Flip the egg/toast over and let it cook for a couple of minutes on that side.  You can also put the cutout bread in the pan to toast too (like our heart toast) and put your favorite topping on it.  My little man usually wants "Chocolate!" on his (Nutella).  A boy after my own heart.  No pun intended...

Newspaper Ad Craft

Sometimes I need new ideas to keep my 2-year-old busy.  Preferably something that he can be strapped in his high chair for.  Contained and distracted  = a beautiful combo.

Little Man recently discovered his love for glue sticks.  He asks me if he can "glue sumping" all the time.

So, when I needed him to play so I could finish my Etsy order for 55 (no, that's not a typo) crayon/colored pencil rolls, I turned to the recycle bin for inspiration.

And ad for a "StOre-wide Winter FurNiture Sale" with snowflakes all over it caught my eye.  I cut out the letters to spell "snow" and then cut out all the snowflakes.  Took about 1 minute.  Gave him a piece of paper, glue stick and the snowflakes and he was in heaven.

 I helped with the letters, but the rest was all him.  Not bad for a 2-year-old, huh?
